Editorial policy

How we write, check and correct the guides and tool pages on InvoiceDesk.

Our standards

  1. Original writing. We write our own explanations and examples. We do not copy text from other sites.
  2. Primary sources first. Rules about invoices, tax and record keeping are checked against the tax authority or legislation: for example GOV.UK and HMRC, the IRS, the Canada Revenue Agency, the Australian Taxation Office, Inland Revenue in New Zealand and the European Commission. We link them at the end of each page.
  3. No invented numbers. We do not publish made-up statistics, testimonials, user counts or ratings. Examples are labelled as illustrations.
  4. Dates matter. Every guide shows when it was published and last reviewed. Thresholds, rates and deadlines change, so we date them.
  5. Honesty about limits. Where we could not fully confirm a detail we say so, mark it “check official guidance”, and avoid presenting it as fact.

How we review

New guides are drafted from official sources, then checked for internal consistency against the tools (for example, the rates in a calculator should match what the guide says). We review pages when a rule changes and routinely at intervals. Calculators have automated tests for their arithmetic.

Corrections

If you spot an error, email us from the contact page. We correct factual errors promptly and update the “last updated” date. Significant corrections are noted on the page.

Advertising and independence

InvoiceDesk may carry advertising in future. Advertising does not influence what we write, which tools we build or how we describe other products. Ads are labelled and kept away from interactive controls. We do not accept payment to publish guides or to link to a product.

Not professional advice

Our content is general information. It is not legal, tax or accounting advice. See the disclaimer.

Use of tools to help write

We may use software tools to help with research and drafting. Every statement of fact is checked against an official source, and responsibility for the published content rests with the InvoiceDesk editorial team.
